College for a YouTube community
Introduction
Study Hall is an initiative between ASU, YouTube and a content creating hub known as Complexly. Complexly is known for their high profile shows like Crash Course and SciShow. Both channels feature communities with millions of invested subscribers. In March 2022, the Study Hall YouTube channel was launched generating interest in a social community focused on simplifying college.
Currently, we are learning more about Study Hall users and their needs so we can better serve them in future phases and provide additional resources that aligns with the content they seek on the Study Hall YouTube Channel.
Ultimately, the goal is to create a connection between the channel and a learning environment where the causal YouTube community can enroll in courses to earn real college credit or micro credentials. Phase 2 is expected to launch in January 2023.
Resources
This is a multi-year project which means there will continue to be a lot of documentation and files. We’re collaborating on this project with the Learning Enterprise so there’s a lot of project stakeholders.
