Company Names
Often a company trades under a different name to what it’s actually registered as, or you can’t quite find their full corporate name (e.g. Boundless Technologies Limited).
If this is the case, check their website and head to their privacy policy or terms and conditions. Usually in the legal bits you’ll find the info you need.
Check Company Registers
If a prospect is getting serious, go take a look at their company registration. Many of these are paid for services, but they will usually tell you if the company exists, is in good standing (e.g. not in liquidation) and that the details you’ve been told are true.
If you’re unsure or a little nervous about a prospect, there will always be budget to purchase corporate records to confirm their legitimacy.
Google String Search
When you come across a new client, Google them, and their ownership/controlling persons using the below string search. It’ll be pretty obvious if you need to flag something, but if you’re unsure, give Nick a message to chat.
"[Company or Director/Owners Name]" AND ("fraud" OR "bribery" OR "corruption" OR "money laundering" OR "sanctions" OR "lawsuit" OR "scandal" OR "investigation" OR "insolvency" OR "bankruptcy" OR "regulatory fine" OR "tax evasion")
