whether it's a one man show or a small UX agency forced out of their labs because of social distancing; this template will help you plan, manage & carry out a professional usability test from home..because you know #stayhome

✅ The Prototype

Prepare your prototype for testing (inVision, Marvel, Principle, Prototype, etc...).
Copy the public share link and test it in different browsers, using wifi & data.

✅ The Test

Design your test: write down tasks, define candidate profiles...
Copy, edit & print for note taking or draw one on a paper.
carry out the test tasks yourself to see if the prototype covers all required flows. After fixing issues(if any), make sure the link still works.

✅ Recording Logistics

For you to capture the user's screen, your voice & theirs I highly recommend ; an awesome open source project for video recording & live streaming. Windows, Mac & Linux. (🎉 long live Open Source!)
download OBS.
add your built-in mic as an audio input source. (how to? ⬇️)
add a new display capture. (how to? ⬇️)

Test your setup:
Start recording. Open up your browser, launch a video & talk. Record your display using OBS.
in OBS : file → show recordings. Play your video & make sure that you can see the screen, hear the video sounds & your own voice.

🎉Great job! now you're ready to carry out the test.
