Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a New Affiliate in WordPress

Step 1: Log in to Your WordPress Dashboard

Open your browser and go to your WordPress login page, typically found at staging.opinstar.com/wp-admin.
Enter your username and password, then click the Log In button.

Step 2: Add a New User with a Subscriber Role

Navigate to the Users Section:
From your WordPress dashboard, go to the left-hand menu and click on Users > Add New.
Fill in User Details:
On the "Add New User" page, you’ll see a form to create a new user. Fill in the required details:
Username: Enter a unique username for the new affiliate.
Email: Enter the email address of the new affiliate. This is where they will receive notifications and login details.
First Name & Last Name: (Optional) Enter the affiliate’s first and last names for your records.
Website: (Optional) You can add their website if applicable.
Password: Click on Show Password to view and set a strong password for the user. You can use the generated password or create your own.
Send User Notification: Ensure the box for "Send User Notification" is checked. This will send an email to the new user with their login information.
Assign the Subscriber Role:
In the "Role" dropdown menu, select Subscriber. This is the default role for affiliates in many setups, allowing them limited access to the WordPress backend, typically just to their profile.
Save the New User:
Once all details are entered, click the Add New User button at the bottom of the form. This will create the user in your WordPress system.

Step 3: Enable the Affiliate Option for the New User

Navigate to the Users List:
After creating the new user, go to Users > All Users to see a list of all your WordPress users.
Find and Edit the New User:
Locate the user you just created in the list. You can use the search bar at the top right to find them quickly by their username or email.
Hover over the username and click Edit to open their profile page.
Enable the Affiliate Option:
Scroll down on the user’s profile page until you find the Affiliate section.
Check the box labeled Affiliate to enable this user as an affiliate.
If applicable, configure additional affiliate settings such as custom commission rates or group assignments directly in this section (this may depend on your Easy Affiliate setup).
Save Changes:
Scroll to the bottom of the user profile page and click Update User to save the changes.

Step 4: Assign the New Affiliate to a Specific Commission Rule

Navigate to Commission Rules:
Go to Easy Affiliate > Commissions Rules in your WordPress dashboard.
Edit a Commission Rule:
Edit the desired commission Rule.
Add a Matching Rule Based on the Affiliate Name:
In the commission rule setup, scroll down to the section where you can add Matching Rules.
Add New Matching Rule.
You will see four fields to define the matching rule:
Type: From the first dropdown menu, select Affiliate.
Condition: In the second dropdown menu, select Username.
Operator: In the third dropdown menu, select is.
Value: In the last field, enter the username of the newly created affiliate exactly as it appears in their profile.
Save the Commission Rule:
After setting up the matching rule and defining the commission rate, click Save Rule to apply the changes.

Additional Notes

Email Notifications: The new affiliate should receive an email notification with their login details. If they don’t, check your WordPress email settings or use an SMTP plugin to ensure proper email delivery.
Custom Settings: Depending on your setup, you might have additional affiliate settings to configure in the user’s profile. This can include assigning them to specific commission tiers or enabling specific tracking options.
