Mask Work

As the lockdown started underway, my mom thought it would be a good way to help the community for me to start making masks. Currently on my shop they’re available for $10, and half of the proceeds are going directly to the Vancouver Food Bank. I’ve tried a number of patterns and techniques at this point for the mask making, and some of them I talk about below.
This is the original source for the mask instructions. I’ve had to edit them a lot so I can easily mass-produce them. I removed the bias tape that made the channel for the nose wire, and I’ve experimented a lot with the ear loops. I’ve made prototypes using elastic, string, yarn and ribbon. The new design I’m using ribbon instead of elastic, and it ties around the back of your head. I’ve found this is optimal for comfort and it stays on the best, but it wouldn’t work if you’re trying to get a haircut.
Here are some screenshots of my Etsy store where I sell my masks.
