Evacuate CMF and Solano State Prisons from Wildfire Danger!

California Medical Facility (CMF) and Solano State Prisons are dangerously close to the fire lines in Vacaville. There was an evacuation order for the area, but CDCR has so far refused to evacuate the people at these prisons. Even houses literally across the street from these facilities were evacuated. All that CDCR has done is hand out N95 masks, as people incarcerated at CMF and Solano are having serious trouble breathing and embers from the fires are falling on the prison yards.

The evacuation order remains in effect for neighborhoods near CMF and Solano and this is still an extremely dangerous situation. CDCR must not leave these people to die! N95 masks are not enough! As a medical facility, CMF houses medically vulnerable people. Many people housed there have respiratory illnesses and the proximity of the fire combined with COVID risk puts them in serious danger. We must demand that CDCR immediately evacuate CMF and Solano and CDCR must take all feasible measures to ensure that nothing like this occurs again! Share this post widely to spread the word! Go to TGIJP’s toolkit for information on how to contact Governor Newsom and CDCR Secretary Diaz via phone, email, and Twitter to demand that they evacuate the people in these prisons to safety and create new protocols to keep people safe during future wildfires!
