The Coastal Road Project is one of Mumbai’s most expensive road infrastructure projects that aims to connect the western coast of Mumbai. It wants to do this by reclaiming the entire intertidal western coast by dumping mud on the cities shores. This project would not affect the marine life of the region, but will leave adverse effects on the communities of this region. The fishing communities are dependent on the intertidal zone and they fish upto a maximum of 2km into the sea. The Coastal Road Project needs to be dumped!
