We have partnered with various groups in the Polluters Out North America coalition including Climate Strike Canada, Fridays For Future Digital, along with other North American based climate justice organizations.
We are inspired by the recent viral videos of communities showing solidarity to healthcare workers by cheering outside their windows or on their balconies. We want to emphasize how indigenous people are more prone to coronavirus due to pipeline construction, further showing the necessity of shutting down Keystone.
Here is how you can participate in our video campaign:
Film yourself chanting “No KXL” outside of a window or in an open area followed by a series of chanting claps. Keep in mind the recent viral videos of people clapping and cheering outside their windows or homes in order to show solidarity with healthcare workers. Here is one
Post the video to social media with the hashtag #NoKXL (etc.) and tag @libertymutual and @chase as well as your federal elected officials. Remember to also tag @PollutersOut, @fff.digital (Instagram) @fff_digital (Twitter), and our other partner organizations. Encourage people to donate five dollars to one of the indigenous tribes that is affected by the construction of Keystone XL if they do not participate in the video campaign within 24 hours!
Nominate 3 more people to participate!
Example Post:
I stand in solidarity with the indigenous people of North America. We must #NoKXL.
If constructed, the Keystone XL pipeline will carry tar sands oil (the dirtiest oil) across North America. The pipeline violates indigenous land rights and destroys the natural environment. We want #PollutersOut.
Now the big corporations @chase and @libertymutual are supporting the perpetuation of colonialism and the climate crisis. This is unacceptable. Our elected officials *tag your elected officials here* are complacent. This is unacceptable.
I nominate *tag 3 friends* to chant with me and stand in solidarity!
We will continue to amplify the message. If you tag @PollutersOut, we will use your post in a compilation video to encapsulate our movement and reinforce our power.
