Cambodia and the indigenous communities living there are vulnerable to floods and droughts, mostly due to reliance on agriculture and fisheries.
More info on the Khmer people
The Khmer people are located primarily on the northeastern provinces of Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng, Kratie, Preah Vihear, and Kampong Thom, but also in nine other provinces including the south west province of Koh Kong.
Ethnic Khmer make up 90-94 per cent of the entire population, with the remainder comprised of four distinct groups: Cham, indigenous highland communities, ethnic Chinese and ethnic Vietnamese, plus other smaller minority groups such as the Khmer Krom and the Kuy people. They speak mostly Mon-Khmer or Austronesian languages.
