Kalasha

Background info

Loading…
The Kalasha dwell in three valleys known as Kalasha Valleys. They share a 380 km + porous border with Afghanistan in the north and west. The Kalasha are one of the oldest infihenous communities in the world. They are struggling to save their rich and very ancient culture while caught between the taliban and other socioeconomic and religious forces from the east and the south. There are 3,000 to 4,000 Kalasha locals living in these valleys. Pakistan is moving quickly towards extremism and terrorism and moreover illegal logging and land encroachment. The dramatic change in weather means that the Kalash land is no longer easy to farm, added to the sudden surges of water from the melting glaciers and change in there local valley that locals are blaming on climate change.
