Jose was an illegal immigrant but also a Filipino child in the U.S not sure if he was wanted here in the united states or if he was just another immigrant
was categorized as a Mexican or Filipino since many thought he was Mexican because of his name and skin color, he was called many names including boarder hopper and just racial slurs, But he was unbothered by it because obviously he knew himself he wasn't Mexican but what category was he supposed to be in he asked himself?
He would eat strange smelly dishes that reminded him of his home town but other thought it was weird when he would take these things to school and eat with his fingers because it wasn't the american way, but he had to adjust to the american way in some sorts
Jose was left an airport with just his grandpa to pick him up but at this point he had already left his mother in the Philippines and this sucked because that was the last time he would see his mother for years and his mother did this just so he could have the same freedom i have as of today
he faced the same harsh penalties of getting locked up as an immigrant and wanted to relive this moment because he thought kids being put away in cells because the parents would leave them in the U.S was harsh but many didn't have a true home unless they were sent back to there home country
AS an immigrant he had a hard time even getting a state id or a drovers license because he was an immigrant and didn't realize it till he was a little older, he couldn't even receive a library card because you need some form of u>S citizenship and he didn't even have that because of his was completely fake
