Noticing

What is Noticing?

Anyone with previous experience of chatting with GPTs will know that their primary goal, and default prompting, defines their behaviour to give quick solutions to general problems. As such it is very tempting to speak to Noa, our AI mentoring presence, in the same way.
However, Noa has been built different - its primary goal is to help you reach your own understandings through probing and `hand-holding` through structured, stepped, evaluated dialogic protocols, each with a preset aim. And we have found through practice and feedback that the best way to get the most out of sessions with Noa is to read, understand, and act on the prompts that it gives you. You might want to check out our (scroll down to video) to get a sense of the conversations in Noticing.
So if we can give one tip, it would be to let Noa take the driving seat and ask the questions - the results can be quite rewarding!
You might be interested to read about the affordances and challenges of chatting to Noa as discussed by a cohort of pre-service teachers involved in the development process from the very beginning.
