User Research

Finding participants who match user demographics for usability testing of products is expensive and time-consuming for most companies. Moolya makes it easy by identifying appropriate focus groups as part of ‘User Research’ phase, conduct usability surveys, analyze the results from UX experts as well as testers and present a Usability report.
The following methodology will be used for User Research.
· App Evaluation
· Identify User Tasks
· Creating a Survey
· Identify User Personas
· Select Focus Groups based on user personas and ethnography
· Conducting the Survey
· Usability Audits (UX Experts Heuristic Evaluation)
· Recording Feedback
· Results Analysis
Remote User Testing
Moolya’s Usability lab is capable of performing Usability testing from anywhere in the world where internet is available. We use technologies smartly to track usability surveys and also record them for future. We later analyze the results of user surveys through survey documents and questionnaires along with usability experts.

Five Seconds Test

Five second tests help us understand people’s first impressions of website designs. By finding out what a person recalls about design/clicks/navigation/UI in just 5 seconds you can ensure that your message is being communicated as effectively as possible.

Five Senses Theory Checklist

Moolya uses Five Senses Theory by Jinsop Lee which is based on the idea of involving the five senses – sight, touch, smell, sound and taste while creating designs. Any design with a high rating for each of these senses means that the design has a higher chance of getting closer to users. At Moolya usability lab, we will be grading our experience of using the product/website on all the five senses on a scale of 1 to 10 and tell you why some experiences while using the product or website are more powerful and compelling compared to others.
Usability & UX Testing Enablers

Remote User Testing

Paper Prototyping (Low-Fidelity)

Paper prototyping is a widely used method in the design process, a process that helps developers to create software that meets user's expectations and needs especially for designing and testing user interfaces. It is throwaway prototyping and involves creating rough, even hand-sketched, drawings of an interface to use as prototypes, or models, of a design.
As part of paper prototyping, testers wear a UX designer’s hat and re-design UI, Screens and Flows wherever product is not intuitive enough to users. Our testers collaborate at regular intervals with designers, developers and other stakeholders to help create better designs for good health of products and facilitate great user experience.

Screen Swapping

Moolya works with an expert group of testers who design multiple versions of same page and conduct a series of tests with users of different ethnography to determine which screens are better over the rest. Some flavors of this technique include Click test, Navigation test and others

Card Sorting

Card sorting is an activity where you place content categories on cards and ask participants to place them in groups. This gives you an insight on how to develop content hierarchies and content relationships, as well as test any existing organizational systems.

Usability Testing

Usability testing deals with testing the ease of use of any product or service. Usability testing brings following benefits along with it.
Good brand image and credibility
Market differentiator
Attracts new users
Retain old users and facilitates loyalty
Reduce support/operational costs
Good ROI
Moolya offers comprehensive usability testing services that span revamping a product, prototyping and also in conceptual stages. Moolya believes that Usability is a Team Sport. Moolya involves very early in the software development life cycle and works closely with developers, designers, architects and business teams resulting in better output. We also have a team of professional UX experts who work closely with your teams as part of Usability Audits for better results.

Usability Audits

Expert Audits
Moolya has a tie-up with User Experience (UX) experts who analyze usability surveys for customers and provide feedback
User Audits
Moolya invites seasoned professionals in relevant domains to use websites or apps and share their pain points and describe their experience. For e.g., a professional classical singer was invited to use one of the music app that we tested.

Usability Surveys

Moolya creates use cases and surveys, submits them to shortlisted user groups and gathers user feedback on the product/service.
Modes
· Face to Face
· Phone-In
· Email
Design-Centric Testing
Moolya provides testing services that are design-centric in nature by using following methods. Moolya helps organizations by helping clients design/re-design products using low fidelity and high fidelity approaches. High-Fidelity prototyping provides a realistic approach to UI design connecting technology, functionality and user experience. Low Fidelity prototypes will serve as a foundation to create High-Fidelity prototypes. Moolya provides a comprehensive solution for testing UX Designs.

Usability Reviews

This will include complete usability review of applications
· Existing Applications
· New Applications
· Applications in Web/Mobile/Desktop/Cloud

Responsive Web design

Responsive Web Design will be aimed at testing for optimal viewing experience – including easy reading, navigation, seamless resizing, panning and scrolling across a wide range of devices from mobile phones to desktop computer monitors. Layout adaptability will be tested for fluid grids, proportion-based grids, flexible images and technologies involved.

Competitive Analysis

Moolya is specialised in performing thorough competitiveness tests to analyse how competitors fare in usability and user experience.
Following testing techniques are heavily used while testing for User Experience of products.

Scenario testing

List down real time scenarios and execute them on the product. We identify user pain points and make Recommendations at a scenario level

Support Experience

Execute end to end flows beginning from the time user starts to use the product till the time he gets his need addressed and identify pain points in user experience in Call/SMS/Email services. E.g.: If you are an online groceries company, we would execute flows starting from ordering groceries in real time, interact with customer service representatives, understand the phone calling process, test the SMSes received and even test emails for content accuracy and clarity

Claims testing

Organizations make great claims about their product or service on their website, in public forums, on social media. Users will build loyalty with the product only if the claims made are met beyond their expectations. In claims testing, we validate the claims made by the organization and help you identify the gaps.

Social Sentiments

For products that are already out in the market, we study users’ responses on social media and provide an analysis report based on positive and negative feedback received. This will help in identifying real user problems quickly, put the Customer Support team in control of handling complaints from users, fix the problems and help build loyalty with the organization.

Failure Handling & Error Messaging

Products must be designed to handle unintended usage by users. When users perform operations which the product is not designed to do, appropriate failure handling process must be in place couple with clear error messaging to the users. Failure handling will be used to test if applications exit gracefully in the event of failures. Error messages must be intelligent enough to tell users what went wrong and how to recover from it. As part of testing for UX, Moolya offers Error Messages coverage as a capability. This covers error messages testing for all scenarios and pages for clarity and purpose.

Website Speed/Page Load Time

Any website needs to be faster and responsive. Users care deeply about how quickly pages load for them to use. User tasks are tightly coupled to the time it takes for them to execute those tasks seamlessly. The better performing a website is, the more efficient a user will be when completing his desired tasks.
Following parameters will be measured as part of this test:
o Webpage Response Time
o Webpage Size
Designing products for intended use no longer is good enough in the world of UX Design. Products have to be capable of providing good user experience to users even if they are subjected to unintended use. Emotions will be given its due importance while testing for User Experience.
Making a note of the features which
surprise
annoy
frustrate
embarrass
please
offend you?
At Moolya, testing for emotions will remain at the heart of User Experience.

Heuristics

Moolya has built its own UX heuristics over the years based on extensive consulting and testing experience on different UX projects. We have a database of the following:
o UX Heuristics
o Survey Questionnaires
o Exploration
o Goal based surveys
o User Persona based surveys
o Demography based surveys
o Usage based surveys (how they use the product)
o Time based surveys
o Media based surveys (web/mobile/tablets etc)
o Outliers (unexpected users)

Reporting
