Use this page to build a list of reporters in your company’s space, read their work, and come to understand their writing beat. Then, meaningfully engage with them on social media, and find opportunities to meet them face-to-face.
Coda AI got us started with the , but we’ll want to build off of that some more to choose and track relationships—below are the steps we took. Convert the Twitter Handle column to a Link column type. To do this, hover over the top of the column, then select the dropdown arrow to view column type options. Choose Text, then Link. Next, select the column options. To view each person’s Twitter biography, choose card. If you’d like to view their recent Tweets, choose embed. Gif showing how to do this 👇 Note: you can repeat these steps for the Linkedin column, but some profiles may not show up. Add and edit any further columns to help you narrow down and organize your list. Priority: to help vet the list, we added a select list with P0, P1, P2, and P3 options. Nurture: once you’ve assigned priorities, determine who you want to engage. Notes: use this column for any details of outreach or conversations. Relationship status: update as you connect with members of the press. Areas of interest/beat: add more tags, and populate over time as you begin to get to know reporters. It is critical to know their areas of general interest and their “beat.” Publication: based on their Twitter bios and other sources, update this accordingly. Remember that AI will likely provide results from 2021 or earlier.
