Investigate removing one of the rear solar panels to add space for Starlink dish [yes, and change the other to 165W]

Talked to “Julia SUNGOLD” +86 130 0661 6150 on WhatsApp in 2023 about making some of these panels with the junction box on the backside. I’m confirming that this is still possible. She quoted $111 per panel. I have messaged her to check. I also have an email with Candy Lai mer6@sungoldsolar.com.cn but most of the chat is in WhatsApp. Got updated quote $101/panel + $625 shipping, so $3857 for 32 panels. To work out the CAD chassis mass: Using rough weights from here. Curb weight of truck currently (9,202 kg) Minus steel wheels and tires (wheel: 45, tyre: 65, total: 660kg) Plus Hutchinson wheels and 16.00s (wheel: 35kg, tire: 150kg, total: 1,110kg) Minus 400L fuel tank, plus 2 x 500L tanks, plus extra diesel (steel 400L tank: 55kg, alu 500L tank: 35kg. 600L extra diesel: 500kg.) total: 9209 - 660 + 1110 - 55 + 2*35 + 500 = 10,174kg

Based on recent quote for water tanks, I think they will cost about £1,250 each. (No connections, but extra complexity with the removable lid).

This is really expensive and uses 130kwh/yr of power (main fridge uses ~100kwh/yr). Maybe better to change the fridge for a larger one and remove this? See [Research fridges]. I think maybe even if we don’t find a different fridge, we should maybe remove this…

We have a problem… 2021 was the last year that LG TVs were skinny 19.9mm… The G2 (2022) and G3 (2023) models went up to 25mm thick. This will mean the ceiling mount is 5mm thicker… I’ll use the G3 version for now but the G4 version is coming soon.

Version 3.0 now supports metal tanks and diesel, so we can use this on the diesel tanks too.

They never got back to me with an estimate of how many units I would need in the tanks… I might have to do some research to work this out myself. I’ve emailed mwood@stanleyelectric.co.uk to nag. Also, these are much more expensive than I assumed. Maybe switch back to the Famous Water submersible lamp?

Approx weight 450kg, split between 4 actuators, so ~120kg each. Options are 60mm/sec (max thrust 200kg) or 38mm/sec (max thrust 320kg). They say we should only load them to 50% max for long life... If weight stays below 500kg, then the faster 200kg version should be fine. However, the slower ones might last longer... Research needed.

Metal 4U seems crazy expensive… Needs research. (And was 304 so deleted). MH Steel is cheaper but not sure about the surface finish… We need “316” grade stainless, which is more corrosion resistant than “304”. This is twice the price I imagined, so maybe look for a different work surface material? As per Research fridges I will decide on a fridge nearer the date. There’s plenty of identical sized options from £800 - £1,350. I’ll assume the Bosch but make a final decision later. 2L seems a little small, but these have to go in the space above the water tank and below the bed, so must be as compact as possible… Perhaps add 2 accumulators per water tank?

This will do fine for the flat faces.

Can’t find a price for the thicker versions (with matched core)... Will need to contact them. Assuming twice the price of 0.9mm, so about £100/sqm. Assuming we cut into 50mm strips, 1m2 will give 20m of edge, so I’ll estimate £5/linear meter.

Need to find a sink that’s compatible and hides the tap

Can’t find stainless piano hinges of the right width pre-drilled, so we’ll have to drill our own holes. Not sure if 20mm or 25mm will be best for the 12mm drawer fronts. I’ll assume 25mm.
