Session 1 (10am)
Anna Bradford, Kathryn Arnold | Bridging Digital and Physical UX: Applying UX/UI Principles to Healthcare Environments
Welcome to Bridging Digital and Physical UX: Applying UX/UI Principles to Healthcare Environments. In this interactive session, our speakers, Anna Bradford and Kathryn Arnold will show us how to apply digital UX/UI principles in healthcare settings. Using an adapted heuristics tool from an Aging in Place case study, they’ll guide us through real-world healthcare scenarios where digital technologies and physical spaces intersect. Anna is a Senior Human Factors Research Associate at W21C, where she applies a human-centered, evidence-based approach to support healthcare innovators. And Kathryn is the Human-Centered Design Lead at W21C, specializing in behavioral design and user-centered evaluations. Please join me in welcoming Anna and Kathryn!
Session 2 (11am)
Han Xu | How UX Powers Scientific Innovation
Next up, we have How UX Powers Scientific Innovation. In this session, Han Xu will explore how UX methodologies were adapted for scientific workflows and how they solved complex problems in the science-tech space. He’ll use an example from a collaboration with Vanderburg University, which led to the design of an AI tool predicting enzyme structures, bridging UX and scientific innovation. The discussion will cover the unexpected hurdles encountered during the project and demonstrate how great UX played a crucial role in advancing computational chemistry. Han is a UX Manager at Neo Financial, where he leads a design team redefining the future of Canadian banking. Please join me in welcoming Han!
Session 3 (11:30am)
