Atlan - General name for all things associated with the intentional community (non-specific).
Atlan Decision Making Circles
This document seeks to define the specific terms used within and around the Atlan Community, and how they distinguish or relate to different decision-making circles.
Dynamic Governance (Sociocracy)
An approach to decision-making, organizational governance, and project management that creates more inclusive and effective organizations by facilitating consent-based decisions within functional groups (Circles) of stakeholders.
Circles
Distinct and functional groups of stakeholders who operate under the practices of Dynamic Governance to make consent-based decisions. This includes Councils, Pods, and other groups who choose to use Dynamic Governance.
Contributing Member
Specific designation for members of the Atlan Community who regularly contribute time and/or money to the intentional community.
Council Pod
A group of community members who develop and facilitate the content for the Atlan Community Council.
Atlan Vision Council - The group of five founders of Atlan LLC who created the initial plan to develop an intentional community called Atlan.
Atlan Stewardship Council - An elected council tasked with the responsibility of steering the Atlan Community toward the long-term goals established by the Vision Holders Circle and the Atlan Community.
Atlan Center - The primary land, common areas, and facilities developed by Atlan LLC to provide infrastructure for the Atlan Community and CultureSeed.
Atlan LLC Projects - Significant community development projects managed by Atlan LLC including: Atlan Community Land Trust, The ArtiFactory, Community Garden, Education Center, Wellness & Retreat Center, Campground, Housing Co-operatives, etc.
CultureSeed Board of Directors - The volunteer directors of CultureSeed who make organizational decisions, manage fundraising, and hire the Executive Director.
CultureSeed Executive Director - An individual hired by the Board of Directors as the primary staff member of the organization who hires additional staff, supports program development, manages Program Directors, and oversees day to day operations.
CultureSeed Program Directors - Individuals and partners who develop and operate ongoing programs under the umbrella of CultureSeed’s 501(c)3 status.
CultureSeed Staff - Employees, Instructors, and Subcontractors involved in the production of Cultureseed programs and events.
CultureSeed Volunteers - Unpaid helpers involved in the organization, administration and production of Cultureseed programs and events.
Development Team - A team of designers, builders, and financial experts who do the day to day work of planning, developing the land, building infrastructure, and constructing facilities at Atlan Center.
Operational Staff - A staff of employees who do the day to day work of operating and maintaining the Atlan Center facilities.
Atlan Community - General name for participants and projects involved in any Atlan activities.
Atlan Community Council - A quarterly gathering open to all community members with a purpose of exchanging ideas and feedback between the Atlan Community and the Stewardship Council.
Atlan Kin Circle - A regular gathering open to all community members with a purpose of sharing heartfelt communication and building relationships.
