Atlan Co-Operating Agreements

3.0 MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE, RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Atlan LLC is member managed with each member engaged in a Member Contract (see appendix)
Member: A person who has been formally accepted by an all-member consensus decision and has an active Member Contract. They are entitled to full participation in all-member meetings including participation in all-member consensus decisions, including the right to block consensus on a decision.
a. Vision Council: The founding members are the carriers of the original vision of Atlan that grew from regular meetings, developing resonance and dedication to the process of building community crystallizing in 2007. This is the group of 7 founders who formed Atlan LLC in August 2010 comprising-

b. Provisional Member: Have been formally accepted through an all-member consensus decision and have signed a provisional member contract. They are encouraged to participate in the decision-making process. They do not have the right to block a consensus decision.
3.2. Requirements to obtain Membership:
a. Interested person has completed the Atlan questionnaire and the in-person interview process. By all-member consensus decisions the members have extended him/her an invitation to become a Provisional member with a Provisional Member Contract.
1. Provisional membership is a one year trial period consisting of two 6-month provisional contract periods.
a. After the first 6-month period the provisional member shall develop a Member Contract.
2. After completion of the second 6-month provisional contract period, the full membership shall meet to; 1) approve the addition of the new member by consensus, 2) offer another 3-month Provisional Member Contract, 3) offer a different avenue forward as Kin of Atlan, or 4) create a Blessing Way. (see Glossary)
3. Acceptance. Acceptance as a member will be determined by an all member consensus decision.
a. Non-Discrimination. Membership will not be categorically denied on the basis of race, religion, gender, age, sexual preference, cultural or class background, able-bodiedness, parental status or marital status.
Atlan may give preference to potential members who will enhance diversity of the skills and attributes of the community in the context of current projects and community needs.
3.3.0 Requirements & Accountabilities of Members to be in good standing

b. Commitments for participation
1. Thirteen hours per month of a Service contribution
2. Presence and participation in pod, weekly and monthly meetings
3. Uphold these Atlan Operating and Community agreements (see appendix 16.10)
c. Peerformance Reviews: bi-annual (see appendix)
1. Participation in Peerformance Reviews for self and other members.
2. Updating and re-committing to member contract including learning plan.
3.4.0 Dissociation. A member may be Dissociated from Atlan and lose their membership by an all member consensus minus two decision (see glossary).
a. Grounds for Dissociation
1. Irreconcilable conflict after exhausting the conflict resolution process
2. Failure to meet obligations of membership as stated in their member contract; including financial, service and the cultural responsibilities as outlined in the Community agreements (see appendix).
b. Voluntary Dissociation. If a person wishes to close their membership for any reason she/he must give written notice and follow the policies outlined in Article 8.10.0b.
c. Leave of Absence. Members may request to take a Leave of Absence and submit a proposal which requires all-member approval.
3.5 Children of Members: Children of members from birth to 18 years of age are welcomed to be active participants in the community. They may attend meetings and while their input will be honored they may not block consensus. There will be some community agreed upon types of meetings where children are not present as well as a children’s council where adults will not be present.
3.6 Guests: Any non-member that is visiting KlickitAtlan must be a guest of a member. Guests are only invited to participate in community meetings and decisions with consensus approval. Types of guests include:
a. Personal guest of a member. These persons may be friends or family of a member. That member is responsible for orienting the guest to the community and land agreements. They will be familiar with the Guest Policy. (see appendix)
b. Artists in Residence and individuals on Personal Retreats.
c. Work Party Participants shall be given the Guest Policy which includes a responsibility waiver to be initialed and dated for each date of participation.
d. Guest Instructors: Guests of the community that are present to host content/educational retreats and workshops that are in-line with the Vision of Atlan. They have signed an instructor contract and are responsible for the program’s participants.
e. Interns: Interns are individuals that join the community and live at KlickitAtlan with a work-trade/ financial agreement and contract for a finite period of time (3-month, 6 month, 1 year). They agree to all Community and Operating Agreements. They may attend and vote at some meetings. Their intern contract may be terminated by a consensus minus two decision if irreconcilable conflict arises.
f. Contractors: Contractors are individuals that are paid to provide approved services for Atlan. This may be for a single job bid by project or paid hourly. Contractors may work for Atlan remotely or on-site. The nature of the business agreement will be outlined in their contract. We may in-source Atlan members as contractors.
g. Recreational day-use. An outdoor enthusiast (horseback rider, biker, pedestrian) that has permission to use the trails and has signed a Trail Use Agreement (see appendix)
h. Education/ Retreat Participant. A person that is attending a workshop, educational program, or retreat. They are oriented to the land and community agreements by the Program that is hosting them.
3.8 Kin of Atlan (KoA) is an unincorporated association.
a. All members of Atlan LLC are members of Kin of Atlan
b. All individuals that support Atlan’s vision, mission, goals and agreements yet are not members in Atlan LLC are KoA. When they are guests at KlickitAtlan, they will abide by guest policies. They may attend some specifically outlined meetings yet are never able to block consensus.
c. They may contribute their support; financially, by their time and labor, with project consulting, or through other forms of community development.
d. Service Hours and other contributions may be submitted to the Membership Pod for approval for Atlan community currency as it develops.
