STAGE 1: Team-building and Research (Pre-event/Friday)
Research/Empathy Building
Read the research materials we’ve provided on our website and whatever materials you have found yourself so that your team can start the ideation process Saturday morning. Be sure to look at existing registration options.
Team Preparation
To facilitate your team’s sprint, we recommend that you discuss your strengths, weaknesses, and interests with your team. If you don’t know each other this is also a great opportunity to share why you were interested in this Community Jam.
Ex: Is someone very interested (and fast) in prototyping? Research/Customer Journey? Prepping slides? Presenting?
We recommend that you designate 2 roles: A Decider and a Facilitator
Decider: The decider helps make decisions for the team to expedite your work. Even if you agree to make decisions via team voting, a decider comes in handy when there is a tie.
Facilitator: This is an important role. Your facilitator is responsible for managing time and your team’s overall process. (S)he needs to be confident in leading and summarizing discussions (this includes telling people it’s time to stop talking and move on), and checking in on break out groups.
Of course there are other roles that will arise as you work on your project, but selecting these 2 people will set your team up for success for this time-sensitive project. The Decider and Facilitator will also be doing the exercises and working on deliverables, they are 100% part of the team!
