Volunteer & Service Opportunities
IWHS volunteer training is required for community members to donate their time and presence at one of our locations and happens:
In-person every second Saturday of the month, 10am-1pm at the IWHS admin office located at 110 11th ave SE in the basement of TUCO -- walk ups welcome, registration encouraged; coffee and donuts provided.
...Additionally, we are holding Code Blue Orientation on the last Monday of every month, 5-7pm through the code blue season at Sergio's Day Center and folks Vic's Pizza and soft drinks provided.
Pathways to Agency
At Pathways to Agency, we are driven by the belief that everyone should have the tools and support to achieve their goals and thrive in their communities. Our mission is to bridge the gaps in understanding, accessibility, and trust by connecting individuals to essential resources and sharing actionable information and processes that can lead to personal and community growth.
If you want to give back to the community and change the lives of families with low incomes, become a volunteer driver for Village Vans. Village Vans provides transportation for up to one year, enabling passengers to access employment, training, and other essential services. Your safe driving skills can help low-income families in the Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater area build economic independence.
Volunteers receive professional defensive driving training and recognition for their service. Volunteers can select their own schedules, with shifts lasting four hours between 7 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Friday. The most demand for support occurs Tuesday through Friday, during morning hours (7 AM - 11 AM) and late afternoon (2 PM - 6 PM). Volunteers seeking employment get job coaching, resume and cover letter assistance, and interview preparation. Although employment is not guaranteed, many volunteers have found employment through this program.
