In Action Phase 2: Analyzing Ecosystems with Data & Rigor, MIT REAP Teams leverage the knowledge gained at Workshop 1 around the MIT REAP “3S Model” (System - Stakeholders - Strategy) to conduct a deeper analysis of their regional ecosystems. They engage in both bottom-up (primary market) and top-down (existing data collection) research to better understand their region’s I-Cap and E-Cap and identify weaknesses as well as comparative advantages. Teams continue to evaluate their stakeholder network and necessary stakeholder engagements, all toward the effort of building their MIT REAP Strategy.
Goals:
Refine your MIT REAP Strategy to accelerate innovation-driven entrepreneurship (IDE) in your regional ecosystem. Ensure that your strategy is both specific and practical, and describes a feasible plan for the region to achieve in the next five years. Your MIT REAP Strategy should sharpen the team’s common agenda, create shared measures, and, most importantly, be something that your team will be proud of when accomplished.
Sharpen and implement a practical and specific Must Win Battle(s) (including Must Win Metric(s)) to achieve a higher level of economic performance through the acceleration of IDEs and the upgrading of your IDE ecosystem. The choice of your Must Win Battle(s) should be based on your insights from AP1 Assignments # 1–3. Must Win Battle(s) must be aligned with your MIT REAP Strategy Plan.
Identify gaps in your broader team, and develop a plan to address these gaps. Engage your regional visionary stakeholders. Maintain entrepreneur involvement (including a charismatic entrepreneur who can help build community/maintain momentum). FInally, identify relevant communication channels and tools.
