Reputation System Tease

TLDR

Reputation Systems are personalized and constantly updated with the help of our partners & community
Reputation Earned = ( RolePs + TaskPs + PodPs) Multiplier
There are 3 types of points & 5 sources of points which are referred to as Community Pods and are fully customizable for the community.

Introduction
The major problems that plague communities are around: tracking/rewarding off-chain contributions, coordinating/ curating human talent, and managing access and members.
We’ve learned that the largest/most complex communities (150+) have developed in-home scoring systems & have flirted with different ways of managing member activities ie: airtable, notion, nfts. We’ve developed a novel system to help with this.
At Underdog Protocol - we help manage community driven reputation by quantifying contributions for decentralized organizations. We’ve developed a quantifiable reputation system that gives community leaders the ability to - track their members contributions, manage their access, and quantify their value.

There is three tools that work in tandem in order to create our reputation system
Dynamic Membership NFTs: updatable based on total amount of contribution points held
Scored Credentials for Contributions: credentials that members can showcase and receive for completing tasks
Reputation Scoring: customizable weights that are tied to contributions, teams, and more

Let’s dive in to how this works and how communities are currently using it.

Frequency of Point System
We’ve found that communities usually are reviewing work that has been done on either on a biweekly or monthly basis. Our recommendation is to not change your workflow and embed us into how you see fit. We are able to import your member information (wallet/discord/name/etc) and contribution management system ( tasks completed/ in-home points system) into Underdog Protocol to help you manage and quantify your members contributions through our NFT + Scoring System. We’ve found that fixed scoring for actions works best but have given adminstrators the ability to add variable multipliers to note extra effort, time, or contribution.
*Note - we’ve seen that work reviewed + scoring on a monthly basis is the least time & operationally intensive option for teams
Sources of Points
We’ll continue to iterate - this is not perfect and it’s a work in progress with help of our community.
Through research with our early partners we’ve learned:
high-level inputs that are common contributions + actions in communities & DAOs alike
communities are different and should have the flexibility to set their points
bounties are common ways that communities track their task completions, off-chain
Our point’s framework looks to be flexible and personalized but these are the early base layers that communities can choose to build on top of:
Pods: Departments of which contributions are a piece of ie: Strategy/Development
Community Multipliers: qualitative inputs based on verifiers assessment of members contribution
Contributions: the specific action that has. Been recorded or completed within the community
Roles: based on your standing within the community
Points by pods
These pods have been created by analyzing the communities which we’ve partnered with and their most engaged and contribution forward teams:
Operations : keeping the community in-sync, moving forward, and alive
Strategy: planning the future of the community and certain actions
Community Learning : supporting the community via social/discord and bringing forth educational resources
Research: creating deep-dives and learning about the ecosystem at large
Development : hacking, creating tools, fixing bugs, or taking up external consulting projects
Points by Roles
All community members are eligible to participate in tasks and contribute to the community. We believe that awarding points based on activity and role is a meritocratic way to incentivize participation.
Executive - elected leader of a community
Core Contributor- an engaged member who has been identified as such and leads a team
Member- a crypto-curious person who wants to get more involved
Rules around roles and ability to upgrade is completely up to the community but we are happy to assist in creating better membership models.
Points by contributions

Based on member’s pods & eagerness, they will be able to complete as many contributions in order to accrue more points to level up their Membership NFTs for more access but contributions are variable multipliers to note the importance + effort of a certain task.

We’ve noted that this is a non-exhaustive list but encompasses the breakdown of tasks relative to pods based on university clubs and communities that we’ve partnered/tested with:
