Why is the “Activate” button grayed out for a workflow that’s not active?

Only workflows that have a trigger node or a webhook node can be activated. This button is grayed out because the workflow can’t actually be turned on.

I’m getting an error when I try to activate my workflow.

This means that your workflow likely isn’t set up correctly, so n8n isn’t letting you activate the workflow. Usually this means that at least one of your nodes is missing something important. Please click the Workflow URL button to open up the workflow in n8n to fix the issue and try again.
