Remember

Memorizing God's Word is a big deal to us. That's why we will review our monthly verse every single week in a new way. Grow curriculum emphasizes the importance of repetition as a learning strategy to drive home these verses for kids.

When does this happen during service?

After reviewing the Bible story, we will help kids memorize their Bible verse during the Remember segment. We will have the same verse all month long. We will have relatively easy Bible verse activities early in the month and gradually increase the level of difficulty toward the end of the month.
Countdown: Reel in the kids with a fun video. (5 min.)
Connect: Get to know your group. (5 min.)
Large Group: Share God’s story. (25 min.)
Unpack: Review the Bible story. (5 min.)
Remember: Memorize the Bible verse. (5 min.)
Respond: Worship in your own way. (5 min.)
Explore: Putting it into practice. (5 min.)
Debrief: Talk about your takeaway. (5 min.)

*During this segment, you’ll see a slide on your screen with a progress bar at the bottom. This is a visual timer to let you know how much time you have in small groups before we start Response Time. The timer is 10 minutes long, which is enough time for you to lead kids in the Unpack and Remember activities. Once the time is up, the playlist will automatically start Response Time.

What’s the win for this time?

Memorizing verses from the Bible is a huge way that kids grow in their faith. We want to carve out time each week to help kids commit the monthly verse to memory.

Verbalize

Read the memory verse out loud, then have the kids repeat it with you.
Movement (optional): Add motion to your memory verse. An optional addition can be adding ASL signs along with the memory verse. This mnemonic movement can help visual-spatial learners memorize the memory verse.

Tactile

Kids will have the opportunity to participate in an activity that correlates with the memory verse each week.
