In the lesson "God's Wonderful Gift," preschoolers will learn about the Holy Spirit, the gift that Jesus gave to the disciples (and us) after His resurrection.

Order of Service

Picture Passes

Place the Adventure Bag around your shoulder.
Open it up and pull out the first Picture Pass.
Follow the instructions written on the back of the Picture Pass.
Repeat these steps for the each of the Picture Passes.

STORY TIME: Review

Introduce yourself.
Say the Question together: Why does God’s Holy Spirit live in you?
Say the Answer together: God’s Holy Spirit gives me power!
Say the Verse together: Romans 15:19 “He has given me the power of the Holy Spirit.”

STORY TIME: Read

Lay the Story Cards in order and follow the instructions below for each card.
Story Card #1
Read the caption on the card.
Question: What did Jesus promise to send? A gift
Action: Make prayer hands to pray with God’s people.

Story Card #2
Read the caption on the card.
Question: What gift did Jesus send? God’s Holy Spirit
Action: Wave your hands and make a whooshing sound like howling wind.

Story Card #3
Read the caption on the card.
Question: Who got God’s wonderful gift? People who believed in Jesus
Action: Make muscle arms to show the power of God’s Holy Spirit.

Story Card #4
Read the caption on the card.
Question: Who told the people outside how to get God’s Holy Spirit? Peter
Action: Cup your hand behind your ear and pretend to listen to Peter.

Story Card #5
Read the caption on the card.
Question: Who gives us the gift of God’s Holy Spirit? God
Action: Clap your hands to celebrate all the people who chose to follow Jesus.

STORY TIME: Remember

Lay the Story Cards in order.
Read the caption from one of the Story Cards.
Ask, “Which one did I read?” Group answers.
Repeat the steps for the rest of the Story Cards.

Wrap Up

Talk: God’s Holy Spirit howled like wind. What does the wind sound like to you?
Pray: Ask kids what they want to talk to God about, and pray with them.

Adventure Books & Snacks

Invite the kids to find a seat at one of the tables.
Give each kid a snack.
Give each kid an Adventure Book, six stickers, and some crayons.
Help kids do activities inside the book.
Keep kids engaged coloring and talking during check out.
Send stickers home with kids who leave early.
When a kid leaves, tell the parents something positive about their kid.
