Connect

We want to start our experience together by breaking off into small groups and giving each kid a chance to share about their week.

When does this happen during service?

As soon as the countdown video ends, each small group will circle up for Connect Time.
Countdown: Reel in the kids with a fun video. (5 min.)
Connect: Get to know your group. (5 min.)
Large Group: Share God’s story. (25 min.)
Unpack: Review the Bible story. (5 min.)
Remember: Memorize the Bible verse. (5 min.)
Respond: Worship in your own way. (5 min.)
Explore: Putting it into practice. (5 min.)
Debrief: Talk about your takeaway. (5 min.)

What’s the win for this time?

We are structuring our entire kids service around relationships. One of the key ways that we do that is by starting with small group time. The only thing we’re focused on during this time is introducing each kid and playing Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down. Give each kid a chance to recap their week with a thumbs up or thumbs down, and invite them to share why!
We want to start building connections at the beginning of their time together, to open up their group, before starting with large group activities. The emphasis on Sundays will be in small group time.

Get to know the kids.

Take this time to connect with your kids. Sit in the same area for your group every week. Get to know any new kids, and allow them to establish their comfort with the group in an easy environment.
Play the Lame Name Game. This is where you go around the circle and share your name + answer a silly icebreaker question like, “Who is your favorite superhero?”
Play Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down. Give each kid a chance to recap their week with a thumbs up or thumbs down, and invite them to share why!
