Image()
Pulls an image from a URL
or stated otherwise...
Hey Coda, I have the URL for an image, but I want you to show me the image. I may tell you the specific dimensions I want for the image.

Image() has one required and five optional parameters:

This is the url to the image you want to pull.

Width

Image(Width, Height, Name, Style, Outline)

How wide the image should be. Use 0 for default.

You don’t technically need to head to the image tab of google, but there’s just more options there! More options means a better likelihood you are going to select an amazing potato.

Why use the Image formula?

Save Space
It can be tempting upload images to your doc via cut and paste. While not a bad solution, hosting many sizable image files within a document can take up valuable space, especially if you are on lower-priced Coda tiers.
Coda Free Plan allows 1 GB of files per doc.
Coda Team Plan allows 10 GB of files per doc.
Scale with Images
Another time Image() becomes invaluable is when you’ll be using an image multiple times within a document.
For example, if we wanted to change every single LEARN header in this doc, we’d need to simply update the singular upload in the table below instead of manually uploading the image again to every page.
We at The Coda school use Image() to place images in our lessons via image links. In fact, all the headers you see are created with Image()! See below 👇
