Tips for success

Test your journeys, always

Before going live, use the test feature to ensure your automation behaves as expected.

Stay compliant

Always respect privacy and platform-specific regulations when setting up automations.

Make your DMs personal

Adding a name at the end of your DM and using a friendly tone makes it feel like a real person is talking. It helps create a more human connection.

Personalize auto-DMs with names

Start your message with the recipient’s name. Personalization grabs attention and feels more genuine.
Add the personalization token in the message builder from the System Fields dropdown.

Keep DMs short and sweet

People are more likely to read and respond to shorter messages. Get to the point quickly.

Use emojis

Emojis can make your messages more engaging and visually appealing. Use them to add a friendly tone.
To bring up emojis on a Mac, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command + Control + Space (⌃ + ⌘ + Space).
To bring up the emoji keyboard on Windows, you can press the Windows key and . (period) simultaneously.

Frame your asks in the form of questions

When asking for 0P or 1P data like emails, birthdays, names, and so on, instead of using a sentence or instruction, frame it like a question. People are more likely to respond to questions than plain sentences or take instructions from brands on the internet.

Try to include a call to action (CTA) in your DMs

Direct your audience to take the next step. Whether it's visiting a link, replying, or checking out a new product, make it clear. Remember that links don’t work when added in the text of the DM on Instagram and Facebook. It’s better to add them as buttons.
