The Scalable Approach to Vulnerability via Interoperability (SAVVI) initiative continues to make waves in the public sector by forging meaningful partnerships with technology suppliers and industry leaders. At the heart of this collaboration is a shared mission: to create practical, scalable data standards that empower local authorities to deliver better, faster, and more responsive services.
In June 2025, SAVVI joined forces with to host an online workshop focused on local government data standards. This session marked the second major gathering of the SAVVI working group this year, building on momentum from January’s meeting. The goal? To deepen engagement with tech providers and explore how their tools and services align with SAVVI’s evolving framework.
The workshop was not just a showcase, it was a call to action. Suppliers were invited to share real-world solutions, pilot projects, and use cases that demonstrate how data can be harnessed to support vulnerable communities, streamline operations, and drive innovation across councils.
Highlights from the Workshop
The session featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including experts from MHCLG, GDS, Databricks, iNetwork, and SAVVI itself. Discussions spanned everything from funding commitments and data architecture to predictive modelling and supplier collaboration.
Here are some key takeaways:
Government Backing: Central government reaffirmed its support for SAVVI and related programmes, ensuring continued investment and alignment with national housing data standards.
Supplier Collaboration: There was a strong emphasis on co-designing solutions with tech partners. APIs, interoperability, and scalable tools were top priorities.
Vulnerability Data: The Vulnerabilities Working Group is refining shared definitions to help councils identify and support at-risk individuals more effectively.
SAVVI Models & APIs: Attendees explored SAVVI’s logical models and API development, which are being tested with live use cases to ensure real-world relevance.
Trailblazer Projects: Databricks and AWS are working with councils to pilot high-impact solutions, with funding available for co-designed initiatives.
Legal & Ethical Considerations: Participants stressed the need for clear governance frameworks to support safe and responsible data sharing.
What’s Next?
SAVVI is gearing up for its next phase of collaboration with suppliers. If you're a tech provider with a solution that could support local government transformation, now’s the time to get involved. One-on-one sessions are available to explore how your tools can contribute to the SAVVI ecosystem.
