Organizational Accounts

Organization accounts are used for businesses like corporations, foundations, or other nonprofits donating or partnering with a nonprofit.
Organizations capture different information than households. For instance, an organization record will have a “Grantmaking information” section by default. This is helpful for development officers seeking funding.

FAQ

How do I differentiate between Corporations and Foundations?

This would be done using the “Type” picklist field. The Organization Record Type would still be used for both.

What about people who are key contacts at organizations and companies but not donors?

All people are contacts with households in NPSP. The organization may or may or may not have an individual associated with it. If a nonprofit does want to capture the key contacts at an organization, they need to create an affiliation. Contacts are associated with companies via Affiliations.
