Short-term rentals are regulated in Kansas City, MO. Short Term rentals are applicable to properties zoned AG-R, R, B, D, UR, MPD, and M1 that are rented for periods of less than 30 consecutive days. A short-term rental might be owner-occupied or non-owner-occupied. A short-term rental owner-occupied is a principal residential dwelling unit occupied by the resident (who may be either the owner or the tenant/lessee of the owner authorized by the owner to offer the unit for short-term rental) for a cumulative minimum of 270 days per calendar year. During the 95 days, if the resident is not present, the property or unit may continue to be used as a short-term rental.
Independence
In Independence: Short-term rentals in the City of Independence are permitted and shall be limited to no more than one per eight residential structures on a block face in residential districts. A block face is defined as one side of a street, from one intersecting or intercepting street to the next, excluding alleys. Also need a permit. Learn more
