I started this project knowing that the Coronavirus pandemic would be a wake up call for many organizations to accelerate their digital transformation journey. The global impacts from COVID-19 are rippling across every industry and organization. Canceled meetings and events will become office closures and eventually school suspensions may become supply chain problems. These disruptions are driving organizations to reevaluate their investments in digital transformation.
There have long been reasons to invest in more agile, flexible and intelligent workplace platforms such as:
· Cost savings
· Improved productivity
· Lower environmental impact
However, the rapid spread of this infectious disease has put the issue of digital transformation at the center of many organization’s ability to respond effectively. Some companies have already made investment and are less affected by unanticipated impacts of COVID-19 and will be more agile in responding to the evolving market situation.
Other companies, due to budget constraints or conflicting priorities have postponed those investments months or even years – believing their current state to be good enough. Unfortunately, these are times where your internal roadmap is not aligned with the realities of the world. Organizations that fail to adapt will be left behind chained to their legacy platforms. Don’t look at this situation as something to address in isolation, but as an opportunity to improve your company's overall competitiveness.
Fortunately, the technology that underpins remote working such as video conferencing and team collaboration is more dependable and secure that even a few years ago. There are no more excuses to waiting.
