FinOps Lead in short

A FinOps Lead is a CFO, a tech expert, and a business leader all rolled into one.

The core of the job is leading the finance function across a range of dynamic startups... all at the same time. You could be working with anywhere between one and a dozen startups in a given week, so expect to run into a lot of problems and to learn incredibly quickly.

You’ll be supporting a FinOps Manager and a FinOps Associate on every job - as FinOps Lead its your responsibility to make sure that our partners have the right experts in their team at the right time... and that they’re effectively managed, coached and led.

At RORA we’re also a startup ourselves, so as you progress you’ll get opportunities to work on growing our own business, whether that’s in sales, marketing, recruitment or events. We need your help to build RORA from within!

Who we are

RORA is a start-up that supercharges the growth of other start-ups.

We do this by giving them the finance support they need to grow sustainably. We give startups like Charlie HR, Second Nature and Hussle access to FinOps experts on demand.

The finance sector has been dominated by old fashioned accounting firms who don’t understand startups or technology. We make accessing finance support as simple as accessing extra computing power on AWS: pay for exactly the support you need, exactly when you need it.

Since launching in 2018 we’ve grown incredibly quickly, all without external funding. We’re now a team of over 40 people and we’re on track to double again in 2022.

What you'll get up to

Transforming finance teams

Lead the finance teams in the startups we support, either for consulting projects or long term partnerships.

Review, improve and implement systems and processes covering everything from Xero to Netsuite.

Ensure that the finance function is effectively supporting the rest of the business, via sharing data or supporting other operational teams.

Managing the partnership

Manage the relationship between RORA and our partners: Ensure that they have realistic expectations of what our FinOps Managers and FinOps Associates can get done in a given time frame.

Work with founders to understand the future plans for their business, ensuring that we’ve got the right finance team booked in before they’re needed.

Developing RORA

Our best FinOps Leads go on to lead a functional part of RORA or the School of FinOps, taking ownership of a core part of how we run the business. As a fast-growing start-up ourselves there is a lot of opportunity to shape the way we work in the future.

This is a hybrid UK-based role - for those able to come into London roughly weekly. You can flex how you work to suit you: WFH, at your partners’ offices or in our office near London Bridge but we ask you’re available to be in London from time-to-time.
