Coda began in 2014 with a simple observation: In a world full of tools and apps, why do documents and spreadsheets still run the world? And why haven’t they been meaningfully updated in over 50 years?

When the founding team crossed paths at Google, YouTube, and Microsoft, they saw their teams stretch the limits of what spreadsheets and documents could do. Then in 2014, they banded together to build the doc they always wanted. A new doc that’s familiar and flexible like the documents you’re used to, yet comes with building blocks you can combine to create docs as powerful as apps.

Coda brings the best of spreadsheets and documents into a single surface, and allows everyone to collaborate in the same doc, but in their own way, off a single source of truth.

Today, we're fortunate to be backed by some of Silicon Valley's leading venture capitalists, and have assembled a world-class team across offices in San Francisco, Mountain View, and Seattle, and have remote employees all over the US.
