Welcome to the 2019-2020 RB Math Club. We will have 10 classes in the Fall, 7 in the winter, and 5 in the spring:
Fall (Sep 26, Oct 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, Nov 7, 14, 21, Dec 5)
Winter (Feb 6, 13, 27, Mar 5, 12, 26, Apr 2)
Spring (Apr 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21)
In addition, we'll participate in three competitions (Culver City in March, Girls Adventures in Math in April, and the MBUSD Math Competition in May). Classes will start by 3pm in the Library after an MBX snack is provided. I'll try to get the kids in earlier if possible.

Feedback? I have a meeting tomorrow with all the other Math Clubs in Manhattan Beach as well as with the district lead, so if you have any feedback you'd like me to reflect, please let me know. Top of my list is trying to find a way to lower the cost somehow, but I've heard it's hard to get around the standard MBX pricing.

More MO Problems -
. Don't worry if you don't get them right away, they're supposed to be hard. The first page is the problems. The second page is the problems with a good hint for each. Finally, sample solutions to each are given.

More Math Book Suggestions
- This is a fun way to disguise a lot of neat math ideas in a story, that even has lots of pictures. Reading it gives a kid the feeling that they are being let in on weird secrets that their teachers probably don't even know.
- Elon Musk is an incredible person (although very controversial). He not only brought electric cars to the masses, but he started a successful space company that will take us to Mars, designed a new transportation system in his spare time, and is also working on allowing our brains to communicate directly with computers so that we don't get taken over by AI. Most biographies about him are not appropriate for kids, so I was excited to find a young reader's edition.

Math In The Real World Topics - I'm always open to ideas, I need a few more to round out the year. Any suggestions?
Done - Google, Shopping, Netflix, SpaceX, Basketball, Retiring Early, Noise Cancelling Headphones, Cooking, Spies.
Working On - Gambling, Bitcoin, Spam, Art, Baseball, Video Games, Cruise Control, Chain Letters, Family Trees (we're all family), Earthquakes (logs), Calculus (in visual form).
Mailing List - We're up to 45 subscribers. Spread the math love, even if they can't join in person. Sign up
