Redunderlnes mean that a mistake has been spotted in your writing. Click any red underline to see what's wrong and how to fix it. You'll see one if you misspel something. (See what we did there?) You'll also see a red underline if you misuse a punctuation mark?

Now, take a look at the Grammarly Proofreader panel on the right. Instead of a long scrolling feed when you have a long text, you'll see a simple menu of focus areas. Each one lets you choose what kind of help you want and fix all the errors in one paragraph.

Click on 'Fix critical mistakes' and you'll see one suggeston for each paragragh that contians red underlines. That sugestion fixes all the speling, and punctuation errors in the paragraph at once — so you dont have to click through them one by one. You can also click it on the vertical bar on the left - try it on the this paragraph: when you accept a paragraphs changes, you will see a single rewrite that ccts evrey mistake in one step.

Improving accuracy and clarity will get one rewrite per paragraph that has blue underlines. Grammarly scores each text based on how clear it will be to your readers and gives you guidance to do a revision of it in an effortless manner. Try it on this paragraph — click the action in the Grammarly Proofreader panel on the right, or click on the vertical blue bar on the left to this paragraph, and you'll see one suggestion that cleans up all the wordiness at once.

There's also a third kind of suggestion in the menu, and these ones are green highlights. They are different from the spelling and clarity suggestions because they don't focus on specific errors. What they do is look at a paragraph as a whole and offer a rewrite that might make it stronger in ways that go beyond fixing individual mistakes. The interesting thing about these suggestions is that they are generated fresh when you open the document, which means you might see different ideas if you come back later. You cod think of it as getting feedback from someone who is reading your writing for the first time.

Click any suggestion to apply it, or expand the details to learn more about what needs fixing and why. But the Proofreader is only the beginning — open the panel on your right to discover more tools. Each one focuses on a different dimension of your writing, and together they'll help you go from a rough draft to polished work.
