Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Who can join?

The programme is for anyone with a working knowledge of finance and operations in start-ups and small businesses.
To get the most from the course you should already be familiar with the fundamentals of accounting, such as double entries and journals.
We must be convinced that you are able to commit sufficient time and energy to the course to make the most of the training and to be an active participant in group activities.

How much time do I need to commit each week?

To get the most out of the course you will need to commit 6-8 hours across the week. Apart from the live sessions, the rest of the work is flexible and is completed at the times that suit you best.
Please let us know upfront if you would like to join the School of FinOps but cannot commit to all of the live sessions. The live sessions are set by default to 6-7pm UK time, but once the cohort has been finalised we will consult on this.
You’ll find it easiest if you can arrange a day off each week to complete the training with your employer. This is not a requirement as it is possible to complete the course in the mornings and evenings.

Can I do the course remotely?

Of course! But we do ask that you ensure that you are able to attend all of the live sessions, which are by default set to 6-7pm UK time. If you cannot make one of the live sessions please let us know and we’ll make alternative arrangements.
A significant part of the course involves working in small groups with other students. As the majority of the participants are in Western Europe you should consider your ability to attend meetings during normal hours for this time zone.

Can I do the course at my own pace?

Unfortunately not. As the course involves live sessions and group challenges it must be taken as part of a cohort. We believe that this cohort structure greatly outweighs the limitations: as in a real business environment you will learn to manage projects with colleagues and you will leave with a new peer network.

Who are the tutors?

All of our tutors are FinOps experts working in UK start-ups, and are graduates of earlier iterations of the same course.
The lead tutor is , co-founder and COO at .

How much does it cost?

The regular course price is £1,200.
The early bird price of £800 is available until Sunday 18th April at midnight.
So far almost all students have claimed the course cost as a training expense from their employer. Please let us know if you need any help explaining the benefits to whoever signs off your expenses!
We also offer an interest free payment plan over three months for students who are funding the course individually.
All prices are shown exclusive of VAT.

What is the scholarship programme?

We reserve a minimum of two places in each cohort as a free scholarship place. This is available to students who show outstanding promise but who would be unable to otherwise access the training.
