1.6 Operational Value Stream (OVS)

Instructions
This is a Strategic Planning Team activity best done in real time to give visibility and review current Operational Value Streams (OVS) to create a shared understanding about them. Value streams are the most fundamental construct of Lean thinking. Each value stream represents the sequence of steps an enterprise uses to deliver value to its customer. Each highlights efficiencies and inefficiencies, delays, rework, and bottlenecks. They also illustrate the impact that flow, or the lack of it, has on the people who actually do all the work.There should probably be several OVS. In the following Figure, you may find four distinct examples of OVS:

Use the Table below, with Current Operational Value Streams (OVS), to detail information on each OVS, generate visibility and create a shared understanding. The Strategic Planning Team should do the following Steps:
STEP 1: Brainstorm on all possible OVS - Prioritize and Consolidate ideas - Write Names of the OVS
STEP 2: Work on each OVS - Team could divide the work among them and fill in parallel all info
STEP 3: Review OVS and upvote or downvote completed OVS
STEP 4: Agree on final list of OVS and their contents
