to find people who will support you on your journey.
What is Crewmates?
Crewmates brings the power of community to your biggest goals. Goals are easier (and more fun!) to achieve when you have your crew with you.
You'll get matched with a small group of peers working on similar goals. Things like:
Starting your business
Finishing your PhD thesis
Changing careers
Getting into better shape
Building a second income stream
We'll host weekly facilitated meetings between January 20th and March 24th where you can share your progress and goals for the next week. You'll also get access to our private community to help keep the momentum going between live chats.
When will the meetings be?
When you apply to the program, you’ll be asked to select weekly meeting times that will work for you. We’ll match people to crews based on topics and on the time slots that they’re available. All meetings are scheduled to be 1 hour long.
You’ll meet 10 times between January 13th and March 24th. We ask that you commit to attending at least 7 of these meetings — if you’re repeatedly absent, you’ll be removed from the program.
What kind of goals do participants have?
People join Crewmates to work on goals that are self-directed and important to them. The best goals are ones where you’ll be working on them 3-7 days/week, but will see progress only on the timescale of weeks and months. These are the goals that are hardest to keep up because the rewards feel disconnected from the effort that goes into them.
Some examples of goals that are great for Crewmates:
Starting a business
Finding a new job
Writing a book
Rehabilitating an injury
Learning to code
Tackling a big DIY project
Overhauling your financial planning
Your facilitator and crew will ask you questions about your goals and milestones, but defining success week-to-week and over the course of the program is up to you. These are your goals, and you know best how to make them happen.
When you’re filling out your application, be as specific as possible about what you’re working on. For example, instead of “starting a new business”, tell us “opening up a neighborhood coffee shop”. This will help us match you with people who are in similar circumstances.
How do I participate?
First - let us know you’re interested! After filling out your application at
, we’ll reach out for a 15-minute introductory call to learn more about your goals for the program.
Crewmates has two main components: live crew sessions and an asynchronous chat.
Live crew sessions: you’ll be invited to 10 virtual facilitated meetings for your crew over the course of this program. Each crew member will have a chance to talk about their goals, their progress this week, and what they’re planning to achieve next in the next week. Each meeting is 1 hour long, and the facilitator will ensure that everyone who wants to share gets roughly equal time.
Private community: you’ll also get access to a group private chat. This is where you can share wins, struggles, or really anything on your mind throughout the course of the week. Your group facilitator will also share notes and follow-ups from the prior discussion.
Attendance in live sessions is critical for a good group experience. If you miss more than 3 meetings without sharing in advance with your facilitator, you’ll be removed from Crewmates with no refund.
What are the community rules for Crewmates?
Our community rules come down to a simple thing: be the crewmate for others that you want others to be for you.
Celebrate your group members’ wins, give them the support they’re looking for when they’re struggling Sometimes that means advice, sometimes that just means being there to vent.
Keep things confidential. This is a high-trust setting, and there’s an expectation that what’s said in the group doesn’t go outside unless it’s explicitly okayed by the group member.
Be present — attend live sessions and try not to multitask.
Participate in discussions respectfully. This hopefully goes without saying, but no insults, harassment, or demeaning language.
Don’t spam or hog the mic. Make space for everyone in the conversation.
If you encounter issues with another community member, reach out to
A support group typically focuses on emotional sharing and encouragement. People come together to offer empathy, help each other cope with challenges, and provide a sense of community in dealing with similar issues.
Crewmates is a social accountability group, focused on taking action. The way that crew members support each other is by helping each other to set goals, and stick to their targets week-to-week (along with celebrating wins and commiserating on struggles). It’s a proactive and structured environment designed to help you stay on track and make real progress on your goals.
How much does Crewmates cost?
Crewmates operates under a pay-what-you-want model. We suggest a contribution of $30 to cover our facilitation costs.
You’ll be notified if you’re matched with a crew by January 9th, 2025. At that point, you’ll receive an email with what to expect in the coming weeks, as well as a link to make a payment.
Are there any in-person meetings?
Right now Crewmates is 100% virtual. If there’s enough demand, we’ll try to add this to future cohorts.
What if I don’t like the crew that I’m matched with?
We do our best to bring together people with similar goals and attitudes to make for the most positive and productive sessions. That said, sometimes the chemistry just isn’t there. If you don’t like your crew after your first meeting, reach out to your facilitator or to
