so this would be a fine beginner vitamin c serum but it does also contain EO. Also the packaging isn't UV resistant so you need to keep this somewhere dark and away from sunlight. Probably better options out there if you're wanting to try vitamin C. Alcohol and fragrance free.
Has 5% ascorbic acid. Wasn’t potent enough to help with PIH. But did brighten by complexion and make it more glowy. Didn’t throw away the box it came in and stored the bottle in the box while I was using it; didn’t oxidize at all (over a period of ~3.5 months). Feels like a dry oil. It didn't show any results on my skin whatsoever. No effect on PIH, not any substantial brightening effect either. Good thing is it didn't break me out. Finished the whole small bottle. Did impart a slight glow, perhaps. It has the magnesium ascorbyl phosphate as the active ingredient which I find quite slow acting as compared to L-AA. I cannot affirmatively say it's a bad product or a disappointment. Because some people have seen results with this product, so I cannot be biased about my experience and also depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a vitamin c serum that imparts some glow, scavenges free radicals, stimulates some collagen production overtime and provides some hydration may be you can buy it. If you are looking for something stronger to have effecfs on PIH and for anti aging purposes may be you should hunt for something more effective. I have used the it's skin Coenzyme Q10( antioxidant) and I found this product went well along with another serum for a good protective layering in the morning

I've raved about this so many times on this sub. A reaaaallly good toner but not for people experienced with actives. It'll be too mild for them. Best for beginners. One of the first toners I used and I credit this with stopping my monthly hormonal breakouts. My skin also became sooo soft and glowy after using. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now. I use it 5 times a week. It's slightly sticky on application but sinks into your skin within half a minute. Adds a nice glow to your skin. My complexion has definitely evened out. Idk about its effect on my old acne hyperpigmentation (since I'm also using other products for that) but new acne does not leave behind bad persistent scars. (will need to use it for a bit longer to confirm though)

I'm using suganda vitamin C and I find it pretty good. Lot of people seem to have issues with the colour - they had ingredients with colour which made people confused about oxidation or the fact that they couldn't tell if it was oxidised etc. The one i own has colour but I've been using it and it has shown results so i didn't bother much. Since then they have changed their formula (removed ingredients giving it colour) and got rid of the fragrance. They came out with a small version of the serum so if you don't use it up fast you don't have to fear oxidation because it's half the quantity. I have repurchased the smaller one because I don't use that much that quick.

I've used up a few bottles of it. I went to Korea during the time it was hyped up. Decided to buy the serum bundle with cream and masks. Works great for me, I usually use it as day serum. Since it is low in vit C I don't expect it to work as intense as other vit C with higher %. But IMO it's a great product to maintain overall brightness of the skin.
I'm just about to finish my first bottle of this and i'd say its quite nice, I definitely do notice a general brightness and it does seem to help with PIH but it is a lower strength so I would say to manage your expectations a bit, that being said though I appreciate that it never causes any irritation and I can get away with ussing it every day even when my skin is on the angrier side. 🙂 hope that helps

I used it! I liked it, it didn’t feel tacky. I didn’t notice a massive difference, but my skin was brighter. Unfortunately it oxidized quickly, I had it maybe 3 weeks before it turned dark orange. I didn’t know to keep it in my fridge :(

I’ve been using it for two years now, even right now. It does oxidize after a few months of usage (and I already keep it in the dark in my bathroom cabinet). It did work a lot for my skin, and now that my skin is at a much better stage than it was two years ago... I guessss I can’t tell anymore if this serum still works for me??
Although, from time to time I apply it to a keloid scar I hve on my shoulder and I notice the fade in the major discoloration from the keloid scar!
Just do some extra research I guess. I love their creams and works so well with my skin. I wouldn’t discount everything from Purito ☺️

I actually saw my PIH fading after two weeks use. I slathered it on my cheeks where the PIH is the worst and there was some pretty significant difference, enough for me to take notice of as I go through my skincare routine.
I don't usually repurchase because I like trying new products, but I've repurchased Melano CC after ending up with other duds, Vitamin C wise. To me it's the best out there when it comes to fading pigmentation.
i used it in my morning and nightly routine for about a month, for the first 2 weeks i was noticeably seeing my blemishes fade. after those 2 weeks the fading was still occuring but at a slightly slower pace. overall though i was very happy with the results.
I find that since the Melano CC has vitamin E in it I don't typically need another moisturizer on top
I've been taking it for the past 6 months or so, and it's been helping a ton with my pigmentation. Niacinamide only seems marginally effective in comparison for me. I had pigmentation marks, that have been there for months with little to no improvement, completely fading because of Melano CC. As for sensitive skin, I'm on my 3rd month of Accutane, and I haven't noticed any of the irritation I've been getting with some other products.
According to my amazon purchase history, I have used 13 bottles of melano cc in my life time so far! I think I have been using it about 4 years or more now. Sometimes I quit and switch to another vitamin C serum, but I always return to melano CC. My skin just reacts well to it, my redness around my nose, chin and mouth finally fades that other vitamin Cs can't seem to do as well. I also notice my skin texture is a little nicer when I use it too but I do think all vitamin Cs do this, make pores smaller as long as you're using it. I also use tret, I love using melano CC under my sunscreen in the day. I have dry skin. I loooooove the yuzu smell. Love love love. I’ve used this pretty consistently and once you get over the weird AF feeling you get when applying it, it does actually provide results. I have also used vit C serums like Skinceuticals CE Ferulic and Melano CC, for the price of TO you can’t really go wrong
I'm late to this, but I just wanted to share that it does work for me, but I have to mix it with something. In the past I've mixed it with TO Rosehip seed oil, but recently I've been mixing it with neutrogena hydroboost and it's done wonders!! It's meant to be delivered/activated when it's hydrated (HA spheres) so it increases the moisture. I don't experience any purging, flakiness, or grainy texture this way. It has reduced my hyperpigmentation and helped any dry patches I have
I got this product a few weeks ago and I've been using it since. Here are my thoughts:
Packaging: the packaging is a little annoying, because the product was slightly pressurized so it squirted out a bit when I first opened it.
Consistency: lots of people complain about the way it feels in skin, and I see where they're coming from. It does have a very slight gritty feel as you smooth it on, and it feels a little oily. I would definitely suggest using it at night. This was a very, very minor issue for me though.
Effectiveness: I'm completely blown away! I bought this product primarily to treat acne scarring, and I've noticed that it's fading remarkably faster than it does naturally. Obviously, don't have any unrealistic expectations going in (it does take weeks to see results) but overall very pleased!
Warnings: I would definitely not suggest putting this all over your face! My skin reacted quite adversely to this: I had a pretty bad breakout and had a red, peeling patch around my mouth area that took a few days with intensive treatment (hyaluronic acid) to heal. I didn't react adversely when spot treating, though, so I suggest that instead!
tldr: This product is effective, but extremely potent!
I found this did a relatively ok job at brightening my skin, however I am certain there are better products out there (yes, even though it is verrrry very affordable). The gritty & greasy texture did annoy me a little as I wanted to use it in the morning (Vit C can boost your UV protection when used with SPF) though I was willing to look past that and use it at night. Alas, it just really itched my skin and was quite uncomfortable to wear. No redness or reaction, just not very pleasant. Effective enough though, I didn’t expect it to feel amazing because half the reviews online had me prepared for worse. I used it just before my moisturiser at night, it didn’t do anything for pigmentation but did make my skin look less dull. I still used it up but wouldn’t repurchase. I personally prefer lactic acid products for brightening but I know Vit C has other benefits. Sorry I can’t recommend any other vitamin C products I’m yet to find one I love.

I've tried OST Vitamin C 20% which was horribly unstable and oxidised in days and NuFountains range (pretty good, can purchase from Amazon) in comparison. AGS 12% legit gives my skin a glow I can actually see and seriously reduces any red / irritation from old spots healing. It’s a light consistency, very easy to layer and absorbs quickly with no residue or stickiness. I use this in the morning away from any other acid/retinoid use at night. A lot of people comment on the smell of Vit C serums and this one really doesn't have one unless I stick my nose right in it. It definitely doesn't have that metallic type scent others have. 100% would repurchase but I'm keen to try out The Ordinary's other Vit C serums also.

I've not used it but looking at the ingredients of the NIOD, it's a more "advanced" version of the TO one with higher percentages of EAA with SOD and Zinc.
For the Propanediol it has an emollient skin feel which some people may not like. For the Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, as it's at 30%, it will have a particular significant odor. For Superoxide Dismutase, i've not tried it yet in my own DIY. For the Zinc (Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment), it will have a metallic smell.
Gothamista has a great video on vitamin c derivatives which the Hylamide C25 and NIOD ELAN both are. They are the only derivative of vitamin C that does not need to be converted by the body to work and are most like Ascorbic Acid. I am currently using TO Ethylated L-Absorbic Acid 15% so I can work up to NIOD (stopping at Hylamide in between) but one ingredient that I love in ELAN that C25 doesn't have is Superoxide Dismutase. Also I love layering my TO Ethylated L-Absorbic Acid 15% over NIOD Survival 0 (which I plan to continue with NIOD ELAN) for that extra antioxidant boost. TO's 8% Ascorbic Acid + 2% Alpha Arbutin is less stable. Also if you are using this product for the Alpha Arbutin for hyperpigmentation then might I suggest NIOD RE: Pigment. I was using TO'S Alpha Arbutin and saw few results. Using NIOD's REP I saw results in days. Enough that friends and family commented on his much better my PIH looked and is almost gone. REP and Survival 0 were both game changers for me. I'll never be without them. Hope this helps!!
Use every other night under moisturizer. It feels like a facial oil and doesn't oxidize quickly, especially if you get the pump. Evens tone and fades redness. You have to be prepared for the concentration though. It will sting.

I finished a bottle couple of months ago - easy to use, no skin irritation and it gave me a lovely glow. I’m now trying out Alpha-H Vitamin C (via Adore Beauty). The results seem very similar so happy to repurchase depending on which product is cheaper at the time.
This product oxidised very quickly for me and I didn't notice a difference. I had better luck with the Ordinary and now I'm using Melano CC (out of curiosity).

I use this to lighten my PIH/Hyper-pigmentation and to improve the texture of my skin. I use 2-3 drops for my whole face, focusing on my problem areas. It has a light citrus smell and a slight warming effect, feels oily but absorbs quickly. I leave this to dry/absorb 5-10 minutes to ensure the water from the moisturizer doesn't reduce its efficacy
: This didn't do much for me. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't as effective as the others in clearing my hyperpigmentation. However, it was very gentle and had literally no scent, unlike some of the others. I think this is a good one if you love the Ordinary or are just starting to use vitamin C. The texture feels a bit oily but is absorbed quickly into the skin. 6.5/10
I bought this in my first (of three) experimental hauls from The Ordinary and, as you can see, I actually finished it (leftover from that batch at the moment remain my G.Acid toner and Niacinamide / Zinc). I chose this Vit C formulation originally because, I think, I did not want a silicone or a powder and I believe I read at some point that Ascorbic Acid was a 'good' version of Vit C(????). My plans with this were to target redness from acne (mostly PIH), and promote general healing.
After some experimentation, I applied this in the morning after cleansing, before moisturising, because I read that combining Vit C w/sunscreen somehow amplifies the protection from both, and because I do not like to load up my night time routine with too many actives. This lasted the equivalent of a few months of daily use.
With no control condition I cannot say for certain but I believe this product was associated with improving redness, while I was using it. It also did not cause any irritation or any other problems. I was mildly frustrated with the formulation for feeling oily, and I found it was not always easy to layer, especially under moisturiser + sunscreen + whatever make-up...I have used only one other Vit C serum (from LRP, which includes salicylic acid) so have little to compare this with. It is, obviously, a fraction of the price of most other Vitamin C serums. At the moment I have cut most things from my routine while I adapt to Differin. However, if/when I incorporate Vitamin C again, it will probably be this one. I am only about 70% happy with the experience of using it, but the price (+ efficacy) makes it a no-brainer. If I find another product that combines different ingredients so I can reduce the number of steps, I might consider that instead.

I for one really love this product. Yes, it pills if you use too much or go in too soon after another product. And yes, it tingles and even stings if I wait too long after my moisturizer.
I find that it brightens and most importantly, it reduces my PIE noticeably. I got really fast results, after about two weeks. And now I’m left with 10% of the PIE I had when I started. Now, I’ve gotten more since then, but that’s going to fade quicker. 10/10 would recommend.
