DAY 13 - P.W.

Exercise Day 13 EN

Objective:

To learn the importance of problem identification in creating a startup and define a specific problem to be solved for a hypothetical startup idea.
Duration:
6 hours
Materials Needed:
Whiteboards / flipcharts and markers
Sticky notes
Timer
Idea cards (each with a different problem written on it)
Procedure:
Introduction (30 minutes)
Start with a brief presentation about the project, explaining its goal and the importance of problem identification in creating a startup. Discuss how problem identification will influence all future decisions for the startup.
Importance of Problem Identification (1 hour)
Discuss why problem identification is so important in the startup creation process. Provide examples of successful startups and how they identified and solved specific problems.
Problem Brainstorming (1.5 hours)
Divide the students into groups of 4-5. Give each group a set of idea cards and have them draw a card at random. This will be the basis for their brainstorming. Allow groups to discuss and brainstorm on the chosen problem, encouraging them to think creatively and build on each other's ideas.
Lunch Break (1 hour)
Problem Discussion (1 hour)
After the brainstorming, have each group present the problem they worked on and the ideas that emerged. Allow other groups to ask questions and provide feedback. This should lead to a broader discussion on how to evaluate and compare the various problems.
Problem Definition (1 hour)
Ask each group to clearly define the problem they intend to solve, taking into account the discussion that has taken place. This definition should be written and agreed upon by all group members.
Conclusion and Next Steps (30 minutes)
Conclude the session with a summary of each group's problem definitions. Discuss how these definitions will guide the next step of the project work: the creation of the Business Model Canvas.
Outcomes:
Students will understand the importance of problem identification in creating a startup. They will learn how to effectively brainstorm and discuss ideas. They will have the opportunity to practice defining problems in a startup context. Plus, they will have a defined problem to work on for the next phase of the project.
