The rise of TV

Since the 1950’s television and media have been the wave for the next generation with the cold war starting and Vietnam war going on, people needed something that would uplift them and their families in hard times. This is where films come in, if you didn’t know movies were created to uplift soldiers and their families while they were away. It gave soldiers a sense of hope. Since then, Tv shows, and movies have become more popular.

Genres of the future

When you look at your favorite show or movie have you ever wondered just how many people feel the same way about it that you do? Well, there are maybe a lot more than you think like your favorite family comedy movie. This year family comedy had users review of 24 and a critics review of 16 with a worldwide gross income of $7,785,273. That means thousands maybe even millions of people watched the same movie as you. This year, Comedy seemed to be what people were most interested in watching especially because of the pandemic.

Genres of the past

Another interesting thing to learn about when you're trying to find a shared interest in movies and tv is finding out what kind of tv shows and movies people were interested in 10 years ago. I find this interesting because it lets you see just how many people have evolved in media and how much things have changed over the years.

In 2012 the genre with the most recognition was drama with 219 critic reviews and 197 user reviews. The worldwide gross income being 66,736,633

Drama might have been pulling in the most money in 2012 but animation, adventure and drama had 157 reviews from critics and 237 reviews from users. Only having a gross income of $332,863 still it had 40 more reviews from users then drama.

Movie budgeting

Although there are a lot of movies made for your entertainment, the process that it takes to make a movie can be long. The average time it takes to make a movie would be 10 to 14 months without delays with them it could take longer. Along with that can be what I find to be reasonable amounts of money and extreme amounts, that is used in the production of movies. Movie budgets can range anywhere from 2,000 to 800 billion in different currencies according to sources.

Never judge a movie by the review

If you have ever made an assumption on a movie based on what someone else says, then you have read a review. May the review be positive or negative you have seen reviews, there are two different types of reviews called meta score and user score. Meta score is the weighted average of critics, while user score is the weighted average of users (personal reviews). In the data set you might find that some user scores may be lower than the meta score and vice versa. That just means that more critics reviewed the movie or more people had a personal review for it.

The genre with the highest meta score is drama, its score being 63,446 reviews from critics. The lowest user score is western, and family. The reviews from users being 3.

In the future there's always a chance that people's views might change again. They call it the future for a reason, so I guess we'll just have to see!
