Step 4: Make a plan to meet your representative

Representatives have different ways they like to meet with constituents. You might attend their office hours, schedule a time to come to their office, or invite them to meet your organization somewhere.
Go back to your elected official’s page on BallotReady
Go to their website and take a look around if there’s any information about how you can meet with your representative. If there is information about scheduling a meeting, great! Follow those instructions.
If you don’t see anything about how to schedule a meeting, that’s very common and okay too.
Use the phone number or email on their BallotReady page to ask to schedule a meeting
Here’s a script you can use, if you’d like: “Hello (official’s name), I’m (your name). I’m one of your constituents, and I work in civic technology. I’m interested in getting to know more about my local government and representatives, and I’d like to schedule some time to get to know you in person. Please let me know the best way to make an appointment. Best, (your name)
Come back here when you get an appointment or a week from today, whichever comes first!
