Many of the assigned learning outcomes for Interpersonal Communication have been connected to fit into the learning outcomes above to illustrate how interpersonal theory and ideas are connected instead of isolated as reflected in the traditional course outcomes. The learning outcomes for this assignment reflect the synthesis that I am asking students do achieve in this course. Instead of listing skills, my hope is that this activity will help them see how these skills overlap, connect, and even sometimes conflict/compete. For example, I want them to understand that relationship between verbal and nonverbal communication more than the distinctions.
