How to get started
Click to clear out the example data in Set up your budget categories. You can click to clear out the example categories, then you can add your own using the blue button below, or by editing the table directly (or delete this column completely if it is not relevant, or maybe change it to Department if that is more useful? Hmmm...the possibilities!) We’ve set up this template to automatically assign unique colors to each category. If you prefer a different color scheme (or none at all), you will need to adjust the conditional formatting settings in the table options Start adding line items to the table, either by using the blue button down below or by clicking ➕ New Row in the table itself Delete this intro section when you are ready to roll! Lastly, here are a few cool ideas / inspiration to make this template even more powerful.
Creating of the table, for example a chart that summarizes the budget by category, or by owner Creating a view that automatically to only show line items belonging to the individual who is looking at the doc (as a reminder, in Coda editing a view also edits the original table. So with this setup, individual budget owners can have a cleanly organized view of line items they are responsible for, can make edits in that view, and the original, master table will be updated at the same time. No more copy-paste!) Adding a Checkbox column to the Budget Breakdown table to flag line items which need (or have) approval - add to highlight rows that require attention, or even add an to notify the Owner when a row has been marked as approved!
