What You Need For Speed

This doc is intended to help cyclists determine the necessary power output to set new personal records (PR) and overall fastest times (KOMs) on their favorite segments. The doc allows the user to input rider and equipment parameters and segment parameters to determine the required power output to maintain the specific speed needed to cover the segment distance in a specified goal time.

The document contains three parts, linked above, that should be viewed in order (for first time users or those wanting a refresher):

The Science: an explanation of the science behind how the calculator works
Segment Hit List: the database for a rider’s favorite segments and goal times
Power Calculator: allows a rider to select a segment (and it’s parameters) and enter rider & equipment parameters
