Thank you Irina - Welcome everyone.
So today with this panel we’re going to explore how to make responsible decisions when embracing AI as a People Ops professional. By leaning on the experience of our wonderful panel.
....HR and People Ops Leaders are facing real challenge - how to be a real biz partner while protecting ppl in the company....
We have some amazing panelists to help with our exploration.
We have 3 excellent guests with us to dig into the topic of responsible AI use.
First off we have Caroline Coughlan. Caroline has 15 years experience in people ops - worked at Amazon, Asana, Kraken - responsible for teams of thousands. Her current role has brought her to the heart of AI working in people ops for AI IT Help Desk Fixify. Next to Caroline is Giovanni Luperti. Giovanni is the founder of Humaan, s a next generation, AI first, HRIS supporting global companies . Giovanni will have lots to share with us on the topic of AI adoption and transformation (why...) Finally Kolvin Stone is joining us from Fox Williams. Kolvin has always advised tech companies at Fox Williams but more recently a large proportion of his clients are coming to him for advice on dealing with the implications of AI adoption. Round of applause
Part 1 - The Current Landscape - Adoption & Objections - 10 mins
Before we dive into the nitty gritty - I’d love to start out by taking stock of what changes and trends we’re seeing across HR & people ops when it comes to AI.
Adoption
Caroline - maybe we can start with you - what are you and your fellow People Ops professionals most excited about?
Giovanni. -similar question - what AI features of your product are getting most attention?
Objections
To one or other of them - let’s flip this on it’s head...what are you hearing most concern about? What are people not using?
Kolvin - how about you - what are ppl coming to you for advice on most commonly and what are you most concerned about? Is there anything that you’re advising against?
G: BIAS related.....HiredScore AI feature in Workday, which allegedly negatively affected candidates aged 40 and up. Most recently, the US District Court in California has ruled that Workday now needs to provide a list of customers who enabled it. Do you think there is a lack of responsibility in implementing that feature? Part 2 - Responsible Transformation - Progress vs Risk - 15 mins
Leads us nicely to the responsibility ppl in this room have when it comes to adopting AI and the decisions that need to be made
Guardrails & responsible use
Giovanni: How do you define “responsible AI” when building or embedding features in your HRIS product? Kolvin: What do we need to do from a legal and compliance perspective? K: Can you tell us a little about the incoming EU AI Directive - will that impact us differently. K: What needs to be in place to stay compliant Being a true business partner
Caroline: You need to be abusiness partner in an AI forrward compnay. How do you make sure that your people are equipped to embrace AI and make safe decisions - across the board? Any specifics for different departments? Anything that absolutely must be in place before opening the gate. Do you ever feel pressure to move forward that challenges you in terms of ethics or risk? How do you make sure the decision your making are right for the business progress but also individuals - whether that’s customers or employees Caroline/Giovanni: Do you get push backs from employees? How do you get employees onboard? Do you get pushback and how do you deal with it? Giovanni: You’ve transformed your product from HRIS to AI first HRIS in the past years - can you tell us a little more about how you ensure that transformation is company wide - not just for the tech members of the team? Giovanni: What should ppl be looking out for when choosing a venfor or new software
Part 3 - Quick Fire and Close out - 5 mins
Biggest learning/mistake made/misunderstanding since you started your AI adoption journey What’s the first thing you would do tomorrow to push forward on transformation if your company had not yet embraced AI
