Subject: We Missed You at the Boundless Breakfast Club!
Hi [First Name],
Sorry to see that you couldn’t make it to the Boundless Breakfast Club at the Irish Consulate in New York last Thursday. We missed having you with us.
I’ve now shaken off the jet lag on my side of the Atlantic, so while sitting here at our office in Chamonix in the mountains of France, I thought I’d shoot you a recap of the event so you know what to expect for next time!
Firstly, it was a great start to the day! As we had hoped, ’s presentation of the key findings from our newly launched eBook on the costs of employment in Europe created the intrigue for the discussion to follow - especially when sharing that the average annual cost (salary + employer costs) of a mid-level developer in London is $80k versus $154k in Seattle - that’s a difference of $70k.
You can see the latest edition of our - which continues our series that has helped companies plan their budgets for cross border hiring.
Panelist , Founder at , an East Coast GTM recruitment company, shared experiences from companies expanding into new territories - be it an NYC company into California or Germany - see far greater returns in their hiring when they engage a local company that brings them awareness of the local market’s cultural nuances, practices and expectations. To attract the best local talent, you really need to speak their language.
, President at
, a leading US domestic employer of record with a global presence, shared that it’s not just the crossing of international borders that needs careful consideration. With significant variances in HR, payroll and tax laws between US states, employers must carefully consider their hiring and mobility strategy to be sure they don’t fall foul of non-compliance penalties. An employee residing in one state, working in another and running regular meetings in other states could bring tax obligations to the employer in every state they touch; with state debt higher than ever, local governments are more actively looking to boost tax revenues than in previous years.
If I had to boil my key takeaways down into three memorable ‘Cs’ for consideration when expanding into a new territory, I’d give you: Culture, Compliance & Cost.

Stay Connected

Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to an intro to our panelists or to discuss any of the topics in more detail. We’d love to keep the conversation going.
Thank you for your interest in the event, and we hope to see you at our next Boundless Breakfast Club in the Fall.
Warm regards,
Max Baldock
