Ecamm Live or OBS: Video freezes and green-tinged feedback effects

This means that NDI Loopback Mode has been disabled in Video Pencil’s settings menu.
Switch it back on and things should work.

Doubled-up drawings in Ecamm or OBS

You might see two different copies of your drawings, offset from each other.
Make sure that your Video Pencil layout is lined up all the way to the edge of your scene to avoid this problem.

Ecamm: Video Pencil comes in as separate camera instead of as an overlay

In Ecamm Live → Preferences → Video tab Check ☑ Show NDI and Syphon Titles Fullscreen
Unchecking this makes 2 cameras (side-by-side) instead of an overlay.

Mac→USB - Source is visible in Video Pencil but no video comes through

Here are some ways to resolve this:

OPTION 1 - Use WiFi

Disconnect the iPad from the Mac and let it connect over Wifi (this could result in a lower-quality connection)

OPTION 2 - Internet Sharing Trick

Enable “Internet Sharing” for the iPad connection on your Mac:

OPTION 3 - Terminal Command (not really a solution)

Disable the local network adapter associated with your iPad. Find out the port name (e.g. en11, en12) then on the command line use sudo ifconfig en11 down to disable this adapter and you might see the USB-connected iPad start working. This has to be done every time you reconnect the iPad

Ecamm Live Beta or OBS: Drawing can’t be deleted, video feed doesn’t come back to Video Pencil

You can test whether the Ecamm Live Beta has a problem by downloading the
free NDI Tools

Run NDI Test Patterns and check whether this shows up in Video Pencil as a source.
Run NDI Video Monitor and check whether you can see the Video Pencil drawing.
If both of these tests work, we know that Video Pencil is okay and the problem must lie with Ecamm or OBS.

Live Titles do not work

Did you grant permissions for Microphone and Speech Recognition?
Are you drawing a straight line from left-to-right?
Are you pausing with your finger or pencil down at the end of the line?
Note: It is easier to use Live Titles with your finger than with an Apple Pencil. It can take some practice to get good at it!

Can’t load images and videos

Your storage might be full up. Go to Video Pencil’s Settings menu and press “Delete temporary files” and things should start working again.

I do not see my Ecamm Live on Video Pencil even though I have turned on NDI

Are you running Video Pencil on the same network as Ecamm?
Make sure you have granted Local Network access permission to Video Pencil (you would have been asked when launching the app, otherwise go to the
