In the study of pedagogy, all studies show interactions with your peers not only act as a social railing for people learning but also allow the push and pull of ideas which inform and expand and solidify our learning. Making an environment multiplayer not only aids with staying in sync but also allows schools to build highly productive communities, which is one of our core tenets at Klen.
Cost & Speed of content creation.
One of the most time consuming areas for educators is the creation of materials and creating ways to educate people at scale. On average the creation and production of a MOOC cost universities between $50,000-$100,000. From the start of a new module or topic, creating a new syllabus can take any where between 200-500 hours. We have refactored the rich text editor in a new form factor that prioritises the speed of creation. This is an area we will need to continuing innovating to ensure we are the forefront of adapting this form factor to be more interactive and faster in creation.
Analytics.
One of the insights we discovered in talking to educators was the clear lack of comprehension in understanding both student satisfaction but also having a clear way to map out student's progress on a weekly basis , this restricted their ability to develop insights that allowed them to be agile and carry out rapid improvements both to their syllabus and also their learning environments. We have built this in from day one.
Integrations.
A core elements of the user experience of learning a skill will not take place on Klen, a typical example could be a school teaching people to become UX designers will have a lot of work take place in Figma. We have to be tightly integrated into where the learning will be actioned if we are truly to be effective both to educators and also learners. Retention and implementation of learnings are the true outcomes of any school. We have to create the railings for this to take place.
